USA – Chicago - Projects
The South of Chicago does not match the picture of America.
Poverty and racial conflicts are part of everyday life. Two nuns founded a women`s shelter there and so rescued numerous women and their children from misery. To give them back some of their lust for life, Regine Sixt Children's Aid Association donated a playground for the children living in the shelter. Excerpts from thank-you letter the sisters wrote to Miss Regine Sixt:
„Dear Mrs Sixt, ... I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your most generous gift to our children. ... We, at St. Marin de Porres, love our children very much. They have had a lot of sadness in their lives, but since they have lived here, life is so much better for them. This makes me so happy to know that God’s ´little people´ can safely enjoy their playtime here. Again, I thank you for your more than generous donation and may God continue to bless you and your family as you have so graciously blessed us.
Sincerely, Sister Therese O’Sullivan.“
